School Voluntary Donations
The school Governors, the staff and I believe the first few years at school are an important and memorable milestone in your child’s life. We all aim to make these early years very special with a wide variety of wonderful experiences. Indeed, we take great pride in the diverse selection of extra activities and enrichment we are able to offer your child during their time with us.
We regularly run exciting events at school such as; theatre companies, outdoor learning days, Forest School, sports coaching and science workshops, and we organise visits from a portable planetarium, a magician, poets, authors and illustrators as well as trips to places such as The Rose Theatre and The National Gallery. We also take up additional opportunities throughout the year. In the summer term we have our wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool where the children have swimming lessons within the school day. The school also subsidises other individual year group trips for which families are asked to make a contribution.
It would not be possible to continue such a rich programme of extra-curricular events and opportunities without additional financial help. Schools in England are facing devastating government funding cuts and you will no doubt have seen the current campaign for ‘Fair Funding For All Schools’ in the media. This financial year sees Coombe Hill Infants’ School dealing with a worrying shortfall of £90,000. My staff and I are looking at ways to save and make money in the short term and long term. Our PTA is also finding creative ways to raise money.
We also find ourselves in the difficult and unpleasant situation where we may have to cut back on our teaching provision, for example, fewer opportunities for small groups work or extra personalised literacy support etc.
The reality is that we will have to lose some of these wonderful opportunities unless we can raise more money.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have already supported the school financially. Any financial help no matter how great or small, is very much appreciated. Details on how to make your contribution are given below.
My dearest wish is that your child will not only benefit from a happy and safe learning environment here at Coombe Hill Infants’ School but will also have lasting fond memories of fun and experiences that he or she will cherish into adulthood.
Thank you very much for your donation.

Headteacher
